Q1 How do you ensure data drives impact?
Data alone doesn’t drive anything – people do. My job is to remove every excuse for not acting on the data by making it timely, trusted and tied to decisions people actually care about.
Q2 What project that you've worked on are you most proud of?
Every time we replace a chaotic weekly spreadsheet ritual with a single-click dashboard, and no one notices. That’s success. Because it means the process just works, and the team gets their brainspace back.
Q3 What advice do you have for future candidates?
Ask sharper questions. Don’t assume the first request you receive is the real issue. At MR MARVIS, the answers might change, and those who ask better questions move things forward faster.
Q4 If you had to swap jobs with someone at MR MARVIS for a day, who would it be and why?
Retail store staff. Because of the direct feedback and unfiltered customer insight they get on a daily basis; a reality check every team at the HQ needs.
Q5 What’s your favourite spot in the office?
The Milkshakes: one of our meeting rooms at the HQ. Top floor, nice views, comfortable armchairs. And it’s quiet – the perfect place to think.
What inspires you about MR MARVIS?
The energy. The people. The fact that we never sit still. MR MARVIS is this perfect mix of creativity and curiosity, but we also know how to laugh at ourselves. It’s a team that genuinely believes in optimism and good vibes, and that attitude makes you want to keep raising the bar while keeping things light.
How would you describe your creative process?
It always starts with a feeling. We try to understand how we want people to feel, but also what they need. What feeling will spark an emotion in them? Once that’s clear, we start building the visual and storytelling world around it. The team and I mix gut instinct with structure and data. We explore, we experiment, and then we refine until it feels right. Collaboration is everything; the best ideas always grow when everyone gets their hands on them.
If you were a piece of MR MARVIS content, what would you be?
Probably a short film shot on Super8: sun flares, laughter, and a bit of imperfection. Something simple but full of life.
Marketing & Brand Management is cancelled. What’s your next career move?
I’d host long dinners filled with music, food, and creative people from everywhere. I love entertaining, cooking, and creating moments that bring people together. I’d probably do something that brings people together in a creative way.
How do you collaborate with other teams?
By listening first. Collaboration only works when everyone feels heard. I love the mix of brains and personalities at MR MARVIS, everyone brings something different, but we’re all working toward the same goal. It’s that shared energy that keeps things fun and inspiring.
What advice would you give to aspiring creatives?
Stay curious and stay playful. Don’t overthink your ideas, I always say: Just start. Let things be messy and figure it out as you go. Look for beauty in small details and don’t be afraid to fail; that’s where the real learning happens.
What brought you to MR MARVIS in the first place, and what’s kept you here?
I think it’s very important to work for a company that values its employees and the environment. MR MARVIS is a B Corp that does this – and it’s something I value very much. What kept me here: the people, the vibe and the office dogs.
If you had to swap jobs with someone at MR MARVIS for a day, who would it be and why?
Kaatje or Milo: our office dogs. They are always chillin’, vibin’ and eating treats.
What’s your favourite music to play on the CX floor at the office?
Sneaky Snitch by Kevin MacLeod, and party music when 5 o’clock hits on a Friday.
What do you wish you could sign off your emails with?
Head of Kladiladi, which is short for "klap die laptop dicht" in Dutch. It means: "close your laptop" and marks the beginning of the weekend on a Friday afternoon.
Your team as a reality show: what’s it called, and who’s the breakout star?
The show is: "Let me speak to your manager". The breakout star is me, the manager.
What do you love about the retail team at MR MARVIS?
People often have a negative perception of working in retail. As a result, the different roles within a store are often underestimated. Especially since MR MARVIS originally started online, our stores—and the people working in them—are the very first physical experience customers have with our brand. The retail team plays an incredibly important role in that; they can truly make the difference between creating a loyal customer and a one-time visitor. What I love most is that our store teams understand this responsibility. Every day, we share the same goal: to give every visitor the best shopping experience possible. Our products may sell themselves, but what makes the real difference in-store is our expertise in styling, our deep product knowledge, and the way we make visitors feel at home.
What’s a lesson from your time in-store that you still use every day?
In retail, you make the difference, and it all starts with your energy and enthusiasm for the brand, the product, and your team. Most importantly, it’s about genuine happiness when customers take the time to step into the store. That kind of authenticity can’t really be taught; it has to come naturally.
What is your favourite MR MARVIS store and why?
All our stores have their own charm, but if I had to choose two, I’d start with our store in Laren. It’s small in size but big in performance. What’s really special is that, in just two years, we’ve built a large and loyal customer base. Many local customers even drop by just to have a coffee and a chat—it feels like a real community. I also find our Maastricht store fascinating. It’s located in an area with incredibly high foot traffic... ensuring that each visitor receives a personal and memorable shopping experience.
What’s one store moment that you’ll never forget?
There are so many! For example, hitting the monthly target at the very last moment and celebrating with the team over a beer and some snacks. Or when a customer, thrilled with their purchase, returns later with a bottle of champagne and cake to thank the team for their amazing service.
What’s your idea of a perfect store atmosphere?
“When you walk in, you should think: ‘What kind of party is going on here? I want to be part of this!’” — that’s exactly the vibe we aim for in every MR MARVIS store.
What upcoming store opening are you most excited for?
Every new store opening is special, but I’m particularly excited about Paris. It represents a new country, a new market, and new customers, all in one.
